| Subject: Do we always see what is REAL at any given time ? Mon Jun 25, 2012 3:28 pm | |
| Actually, we might not be looking at reality at all. For example, do you remember how you got to the place you are sitting on now? Did you notice everything you moved through? The couch, the marbled floor, the painted wall, the sounds, the air movements, the color of the light, the aroma floating, the touch of your clothes on your skin?
You probably didn’t notice all that. You already had in your mind a knowing about the usual wall, the usual sound, the usual breeze, the usual rose, even if you have taken a new path. Your memory replayed them for you and you moved through them without being really aware of them.
This is how we move in life. We know everything in which we move through. We already have a picture about our job, God, life, our family, friends, people in general, our home, every room, the wall, our country, the politicians, the rainy weather, another religion. Our minds replay the memory of them as soon as we are in contact with them. Actually, there is no need for them to do anything or say anything or be even present. Just mentioning them or remembering them is enough to trigger in us any kind of thought-emotion associated with them.
Are we then reacting to reality? Not at all. We are merely experiencing it with old mental pictures we have about it.
