Preparation Time : 15 minutes
Cooking Time : 40 minutes
INGREDIENTS
400 grams raw rice
7 tablespoon coconut, grated
200 grams sugar
Preparation Method :
Soak the raw rice for around 2 hours. Dry it on a paper or cloth.
Then grind in a mixie. sieve it.
Mix 1 teaspoon salt and enough warm water and mix with hands to a coarsely form. (Should not add more water).
Boil 2 cups of water inside the bottom of puttu maker.
Fill the Puttu tube with rice powder, grated coconut and sugar one by one.
(The order should be the rice first, and then grated coconut and finally sugar.)
Keep the puttu tube inside the puttu pot and close it with its lid.
Let it boil for 7 minutes.
When you find the steam comes out of the lid, wait for 2 minutes.
Take out the puttu tube and keep it in the slanting position.
Open the lid and push the boiled puttu with a long rolled stick.
Now the puttu is ready.
Before making the puttu second time, pour a little water into the puttu tube and drop the water out.
Again do the same method to make puttu with the remaining puttu powder.
Instead of sugar you can use scraped palm jaggery(Karupatti) | |
